Becoming International III

Continuing with the line of internationalization that the School has been developing since they started with the project “Becoming International I” in 2013, the institution continues, with the current project, “Becoming International III”, its objectives summarized in needs of teachers and students:
Students’ needs:
1. Contributing to the creation of a community of young, well-qualified and open-minded professionals in the future, provided with international experience by improving their professional and linguistic skills.
2. Increasing the possibilities so that the students can compete in the European labour market, which is crucial at this crisis time.
In this sense and according to the identified needs, the way to achieve the goals is to conduct activities that, on the one hand, promote the mobility of students to a European country where carrying out, at least, a one-month internship as a part of “On the Job Training” professional module, and on the other, that the teachers, as an essential piece in this process, can perform mobilities to improve its training, in the mode of Job Shadowing, in order to optimize the quality of teaching.
The improvement of linguistic and cultural skills resulting from the mobility, both for students and for teachers, will constitute a precious additional value to fight for an optimal positioning within the local labour market, increasing the opportunities of inclusion at European level and laying the groundwork for stable networking between organizations and institutions.
To conclude, the vision is aimed to consolidate and strengthen IES Algarb as a reference in the professional branches for the whole vocational sector. Teaching subjects in a foreign language, internationalization of studies and implementation of stable contacts and relationships with European schools and institutions to share work in the same field, will be distinctive signs of the institution.
